SAME BARREL BREW TASTE WITHOUT THE BARREL!
Oak Chips are a fast and economical way to add oak barrel flavor to any fermented drink like beer or kombucha. These chips are made from American Oak staves that are chipped down and toasted to create flavors similar to the taste that you would receive from brewing in the barrel.
There are multiple different toast levels. It’s important to understand that each toasting level creates different flavors in the oak; not a greater intensity of impact in your beer. Don’t think of them as weak, normal & strong; they’re each a different flavor profile.
Open Oak pack and add the oak chips to 1 cup of hot water in step 1. Let the oak chips soak in the hot water for 10 minutes. Add the water and the oak chips to the fermenter. Because of the high surface area, oak chips can extract quickly, and care should be taken to not overdo it. Taste frequently after the first week.
Suggested Dosage is 1-2 oz per 5 gallons.
