Safale US-05 or 1056 is an American ale brewer’s yeast used to produce neutral and well-balanced ales that are clean and crisp. It forms a firm foam head and presents a very good ability to stay in suspension during fermentation—ideal for all American beer styles and hoppy beers.
Pitch the yeast directly on the surface of the wort in the fermentation vessel, maintaining a temperature at or above the fermentation temperature. Progressively sprinkle the dry yeast into the wort, ensuring it covers the entire wort surface to prevent clumping.
Alternatively, sprinkle the yeast into at least ten times its weight of sterile water or boiled and hopped wort at a temperature ranging from 25 to 29°C (77°F to 84°F). Let it rest for 15 to 30 minutes, gently stir, and then pitch the resulting cream into the fermentation vessel.
