What’s Inside the Wine Starter Kit?

To ensure a smooth wine making process, you’ll need to have some essential equipment on hand:

Required Supplies & Equipment Needed for your Cabernet Wine Kit:

  • Primary Fermenter: A food-grade plastic fermentation bucket or container with a minimum capacity of 30 liters, complete with a lid and hole for airlock.
  • 6 Gallon Carboy (23 liters): Glass or food-grade plastic for your secondary fermentation vessel.
  • Airlock & Rubber Bung: S style airlock or 3 piece airlock and a drilled bung for carboy. This one-way valve seals the carboy neck, with the airlock half-filled with water and attached to it when it’s filled with wine.
  • Siphon & Hose: A 5-foot length of food-grade plastic tubing attached to a rod for efficient siphoning.
  • Hydrometer & Test Cylinder: These tools help you monitor fermentation progress by measuring specific gravity.
  • Long Handled Spoon: A food-grade plastic spoon with a generous 70 cm / 28 in length for mixing.
  • Measuring Cup: A 500mL / 2-cup measuring cup to ensure precision.
  • Thermometer: A thermometer designed for measuring fermentation temperature.
  • Wine Thief: Used for taking wine samples from the Carboy or Primary Fermenter.
  • 30 – Wine Bottles: 750mL bottles to showcase your finished product.
  • 30 – Wine Corks or Bottle Closures: Synthetic or natural corks to preserve the wine’s integrity.
  • Wine Bottle Corker: Italian double lever wine corker or handy corker. Essential for securely sealing your bottles.
  • Star SanEnsures your equipment is properly cleaned and sanitized for hygienic winemaking using Star San or another suitable winemaking cleaner and sanitizer.
