This Elderberry Syrup recipe makes approximately 16 fl oz of elderberry syrup. Sip 1-2 teaspoons of elderberry syrup daily or add flavor and extra nutrients to your favorite beverages like kombucha, kefir, soda water, or cocktails. Use 1-2 teaspoons of elderberry syrup per pint to start and adjust to your liking.

  • Combine elderberries, spices, and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil.

  • Reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes.

  • Line a strainer with cheesecloth and place a bowl under the strainer. Pour contents through the cheesecloth to separate the liquid from the berries. Gather the ends of the cheesecloth and squeeze the berries to extract all of the liquid.

  • Stir in honey until fully dissolved.

  • Pour into a clean pint-sized jar or bottle. Store in the refrigerator for up to 6 months.

Tips

  • Elderberry syrup also makes a great healthy base for gummies, jams, and candies.
